Prospects for distance education: consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract

In the article, the authors analyze distance education as an integral form of education based on the use of a wide range of traditional and new infocommunication technologies and their technical means. It is emphasized that the prospects for distance education are obvious in connection with the transformations both in the educational space and in the life world of people, such changes are based on the risks that have arisen during the COVID-19 pandemic. The results of the author's empirical research state the orientation towards updating the content aspects of distance education in Russia. The authors' conclusions are as follows: for the further effective development of the domestic education system, an optimal combination of the best innovative developments in the infocommunication environment and the fundamental traditions of the Russian education system is necessary.
