International organizations: classification, functions and vectors of evolution

Abstract

The article presents the main approaches to understanding the concept of international organization (legal, systemic, functional, economic, institutional ones). The prerequisites for the formation of international organizations in the history of world politics are described. It is noted that military-political alliances became the first international organizations in the world. The main functions of international organizations are highlighted. Criteria are presented on the basis of which it is possible to classify international organizations (nature of membership, geographical criterion, functional dimension). In addition, the article presents conclusions about possible future directions for the development of the international integration process and the risks that complicate it.
