Dynamics of group identity of the population of the South of Russia in the context of macroregion’s societal integration
Abstract
The article analyzes the results of repeated-comparative (2010-2021) sociological studies of the group identity of the population of the multiethnic South of Russia. Against the background of the prevalence of identifications with groups of everyday communication (age and professional), the ethnoterritorial specificity of the identity structure is revealed. A higher and growing importance of civil identity for the population of the Rostov region is recorded. Whereas for the representatives of the republican segment (Adygea and Dagestan), ethnic and North Caucasian we-identifications are more important. The continuing discrepancy in the structure of group identity across the subregions of the South of Russia complicates the societal integration of the multi-component macroregion.
