Предметом исследования является проблема взаимоотношения населения крупного промышленного города и полиции. Цель исследования - анализ динамики изменения отношения граждан к полиции на протяжении последних десяти лет. Основываясь на данных социологического мониторинга, авторы показывают динамику изменения оценки деятельности полиции и доверия к ней со стороны населения г. Волгограда (2011 – 2021 гг.) Началом исследуемого периода выбран 2011 год как начало реформы МВД. Авторы отмечают тенденцию роста оценки работы полиции со стороны населения г. Волгограда в обозначенный период. Вместе с тем, мониторинг показывает неустойчивость этой тенденции. И хотя население в целом, более позитивно стало относиться к полиции, вместе с тем обнаруживаются в различные годы колебания то в одну, то в другую сторону, то есть рост удовлетворенности деятельностью органами внутренних дел сменяется ее снижением.

Одной из задач данного исследования был также анализ взаимосвязи между оценкой гражданами работы полиции и их ощущением защищенности от преступных посягательств.

The subject of the study is the problem of the relationship between the population of a large industrial city and the police. The purpose of the study is to analyze the dynamics of changes in the attitude of citizens towards the police over the past ten years. The authors show the dynamics of changes in the assessment of the activities of the police and the trust in it by the population of Volgograd (2011-2021), based on sociological monitoring data. The beginning of the study period was chosen in 2011 as the beginning of the reform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The authors note the upward trend in the assessment of the work of the police by the population of Volgograd in the indicated period. At the same time, monitoring shows the instability of this trend. And although the population as a whole began to treat the police more positively, at the same time, fluctuations are found in different years in one direction or the other, that is, an increase in satisfaction with the activities of the internal affairs bodies is replaced by its decrease.

One of the objectives of this study was also to analyze the relationship between citizens' assessment of the work of the police and their sense of protection from criminal encroachments.
